What types of parasites can infect my pet?

Internal parasites target your pet’s internal organs, creating havoc and health issues. Common internal parasites include roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms and heartworms. External parasites like fleas, ticks and mange can be just as harmful for your pet, causing skin infections and other complications. Grooming and checking their coat regularly helps you ensure there are no external parasites making your pet their temporary home.

How do I know if my pet is infected?

With some parasites like heartworms, the best way to know if your pet is infected is to get them tested. Other infections manifest as symptoms in the later stages, including:

• Red, flaky skin
• Scooting
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Weight loss
• Loss of appetite

What types of parasite control are available?
